Sania Mirza lost her second round singles match in Wimbledon on Thursday. She was up against much higher ranked player Nadia Petrova of Russia ( Ranked 9th Currently in WTA Rankings) who is also seeded 11 in the tournament.
Sania lost 2-6, 2-6 in straight sets. She was beaten on all parameters including coming to the net (only 5 times out of which she was successful only twice, against 12/14 of her opponent), first serve percentage, average serve speed, returning points won etc. Further, she could not capitalize on any of the 3 Break Points she got, while she was broken 4 times by Nadia.
The match was completed in 54 mins.
Hopefully she may climb another rank from her 44th Rank presently, due to her good performance in the First Round.
